नीति-शतक : न्याय का पथ

निन्दन्तु नीतिनिपुणा, यदि वा स्तुवन्तु
लक्ष्मीः स्थिरा भवतु, गच्छतु वा यथेष्टम् ।
अद्यैव वा मरणमस्तु, युगान्तरे वा
न्याय्यात्पथः प्रविचलन्ति, पदं न धीराः ।। ७४ ।।

हिंदी अर्थ

नीति में निपुण मनुष्य चाहे निंदा करें या प्रशंसा,
लक्ष्मी आयें या इच्छानुसार चली जायें ।
आज ही मृत्यु हो जाये या फिर युगों के बाद हो,
परन्तु धैर्यवान मनुष्य कभी भी न्याय के मार्ग से अपने कदम नहीं हटाते हैं ॥

English translation

Wise people, proficient in worldly matters, may criticize or praise,
Laxmi (Goddess of Wealth & Prosperity) may come or go as she pleases;
Death may occur today or only after centuries,
But those with patience do not divert from the path of justice.
